In Canvas Studio, the Halftone effect converts your rendered image into a pattern of dots: just like vintage comic books or newspaper prints. It samples the scene’s brightness, then replaces each pixel group with a geometric shape whose size (and sometimes rotation) conveys the original luminance. The result is a bold, screen-printed aesthetic that can range from subtle texture to full-on pop-art styling.
enabled – toggles the halftone pass; uncheck to compare the clean render with the dotted version.
blending – sets how strongly the halftone layer is mixed back over the scene (1 = full effect, 0 = invisible).
greyscale – forces dots to be monochrome; leave off for colored CMYK-style dots, enable for black-and-white prints.
radius – the base size of the dot grid; higher numbers make larger, more obvious dots, lower values create fine stippling.
rotateR / rotateG / rotateB – separate rotation angles (in radians) for the red, green, and blue dot layers; classic print offset uses slightly different angles to avoid moiré.
scatter – adds random position jitter to each dot, giving a rough, ink-bleed character.
shape – chooses the dot geometry (0 = circle, 1 = ellipse, 2 = line, 3 = square); each shape offers a different graphic flavour.
By tuning dot radius, color-channel rotations, and blending strength, you can dial the Halftone effect from a finely textured overlay to a loud, posterised statement piece.
