Material Oscillators add procedural motion to any material parameter in Canvas Studio. Enable the feature in the Material’s Additional Settings in the backend, then turn on up to three oscillators per material from the Frontend CNVS UI. Use waves or noise to animate color, opacity, roughness, metalness, emission, transmission and more, live in the browser.
Enabled – turns the selected oscillator on or off.
Rate – how fast the modulation runs over time.
Amplitude – strength of the change. For normalized properties (0–1) this acts as a multiplier/clamped offset; for Color it scales channel intensity.
Noise Type – the driver for the motion: Sine, Cosine, Simplex1D, Simplex2D, Simplex3D, SmoothRandom for gently drifting values.
Target Property – pick which material value to modulate. Options reflect the active material and can include Color, Opacity, Emissive Intensity, Emissive Color, Roughness, Metalness, and others exposed by that material.
Channel R / Channel G / Channel B – when Color is the target, choose which channels to animate; disable any channel you want to keep fixed.
Phase – offsets the start point of the waveform so multiple oscillators can run out of sync.
Stack oscillators to blend periodic waves with natural noise, offset phases for richer variation, and keep amplitudes modest for believable results. Typical uses include pulsing emissive logos, subtle roughness shimmer on metals, breathing opacity for glass, or hue shifts on tiles.
