With just these three controls, the Outline Effect delivers immediate visual clarity: emphasizing silhouettes, separating overlapping geometry, and adding a hand-drawn feel without altering underlying materials or lighting.
In Canvas Studio, the Outline Effect draws crisp contour lines around your 3-D objects, instantly giving the scene a stylized, comic-book or technical-illustration look. The effect samples depth and normal information, detects edges, and then composites a solid line over the final image. It’s lightweight, fully real-time, and can be combined with other post-processing filters like Halftone or the Toon material for even bolder visuals.
enabled – turns the outline pass on or off, letting you compare the clean render with the outlined version.
thickness – sets the stroke width in screen space; smaller values create hair-line contours, larger values produce bold, graphic edges.
color – defines the outline’s tint; use dark gray or black for classic ink lines, bright colors for pop-art styling, or subtle hues to match UI accents.
