Use small Ripple Size with moderate Distortion Amount for delicate surface shimmer, or increase Strength and lower Decay for energetic splashes. Pair with bloom or reflections for dramatic results while keeping geometry and lighting untouched.
The Water Ripple effect adds screen-space waves that radiate from your cursor or touch input, bending the scene like a liquid surface. Enable it in the backend Post tab, then fine-tune it in the Frontend Canvas UI under Process Effects → Ripple. Because it’s a post-processing pass, it doesn’t change your geometry, just distorts the final image for a convincing water-like refraction.
enabled – turns the ripple pass on or off.
Wave Speed – controls how fast ripples travel outward from the impact point.
Pressure Damping – reduces the initial “splash” energy; higher values soften the first displacement.
Velocity Damping – slows ongoing motion so waves settle more quickly.
Wave Decay – determines how fast the ripple amplitude fades over time; higher values fade sooner.
Ripple Size – sets the radius of each impulse.
Ripple Strength – sets the displacement intensity of each ripple.
Distortion Amount – scales the refraction/warping of the image for a stronger water effect.
Auto Ripples – generates periodic ripples without user input for ambient motion.
Auto Frequency – how often auto ripples spawn when Auto Ripples is enabled.
